Josh has been a techy fanatic since he was a wee-boy. He began playing computer games before kindergarten on a thick, ancient laptop (he thinks he had it rough..try the boulder computers from the 80’s). Josh had to constantly troubleshoot problems as computers in the 2000’s just did not work well for his tech adventures. When Josh got to college, he wanted to do physics research and discover something unknown about this world. While working on Wolfram Mathmatica and coding lab simulations, Josh realized he could satisfy his creative side with coding in a way physics could not. Given his lifelong computer experience, he changed his major quickly and the rest is history (and we snatched him up). Merging his deep tech and coding knowledge with a sales endeavor is most certainly a magical mix for Josh and he’s excelling in his career.
Favorite Quote: “Never give up!”
Time for the wacky world of previous jobs and the childhood “dream job” portion of this profile. When Josh was a little dude, he dreamt of a very specific (and interesting) path: first be a garbage man, then join the military, and finally start his own business where (wait for this….) NO ONE got holidays, vacations, or lunch breaks (he went as far as wearing suits to preschool!). Ok, let’s all take a moment, breathe, and recover from this revelation…
Favorite Things:
- Laughter – My dream is to make comedy, after gathering money to live on and life experience.
- Animals – I’ve been a vegetarian since November 2018. I have 3 cats and a dog. You can often find me on the floor at a party playing with the pets.
- Disc golf – When the weather is fine, I’m tossing discs. My record toss is 385 feet.
- Cooking – I make the best fettucine alfredo and love making soup.
- Trying new things – I’m afraid of change and new things, but my constant commitment to trying new activities and experiences keeps life interesting. Hence, I’ve done a lot of different things, ranging from coding to powerlifting to making clothes to standup comedy.
As we know Josh did not take that path, but like many of us had some colorful past positions that really stand out. Josh use to work in food service for a small (150 members), private Czech/bohemian gymnast camp in Michigan. The camp was over 100 years old and only the descendants of the original members and their spouses could join (whaaat?). During his tenure, when the last person that spoke Czech passed away, not a single person did gymnastics anymore.
5 Favorite Places:
- Saint-Martin – the French side. These are my favorite beaches out of the 20ish islands I’ve been to.
- Hawaii – if you go, you know. The air is just different.
- My bed – I can sleep and would sleep for my entire life straight.
- College of DuPage – CoD helped me find myself and get through college. Same for my sister, father, and some close friends.
- Camp Sokol – I grew up going every weekend, 10 weeks a year for my whole life. A beach and lots of memories.
