Read how Snarling Realities, a technology support organization, made the strategic decision to ensure more protection and stability for their IT strategy.
Snarling Realities is a technology support organization that supports professionals across many markets, most commonly focused on the legal support community.
When Hurricane Sandy hit New York, Snarling Realities noticed that most Data Centers in the New York Metro area are vulnerable to bad things. For example, a large amount of New York data traffic flows through two carrier hotels - one is located at 60 Hudson Street, and the other at 111 8th Ave. While both data centers stayed up, after the storm they were only reachable by boat.
Data Centers in New Jersey tend to follow the I-95 corridor which gets highly impacted in bad weather. Many of those Data Centers are in swamp or high moisture locations.
"Once we made the decision to leave the New York Metro area – the choice was pretty clear. Thanks to things like the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) the decision was easy. Chicago has great connectivity, lower power costs, and more daily flights than probably any other city in the United States from NYC." - Dan Gelman, CEO Snarling Realities, Inc.
“When looking in the Chicago area we found that 350 E. Cermak Road is the location of a large carrier hotel (near the CME). Any hosting provider has a wide menu of options in terms of carrier providers should something bad happen.
Steadfast houses one of the largest data centers in the world at 350 E. Cermak Road. With the location of the facility, coupled with Steadfast’s helpful team members, the fit was ideal for Snarling Realities.
"The reason why we chose Steadfast was frankly they were honest and straightforward. That was true on reputation, pricing, and follow through."
"In IT, surprises are for parties not systems. There were very few surprises from Steadfast and if something happens, their people are helpful and communicate in the face of adversity. It’s really all we can ask of anyone.”
